We tried Juniper's newish concept Sunday Best for Sunday brunch last week and were so impressed! The fried chicken is as wonderfully crispy & juicy as ever, and the brunch dishes were amazing. We got both chicken options, the chicken & waffles and the chicken biscuit. My husband is a self proclaimed chicken & waffles connoisseur, and he said these are some of the best he's had. The chicken is the perfect level of spice, and the honey provides a great balance. The chicken biscuit was also incredible- it's one of those layered so high biscuits that you end up just eating it all with a fork. All of the cheese, pepper jelly, mayo & the egg smothered on the chicken is perfection. And the breakfast potatoes are a 12/10! So crispy with a little bit of spice. We love to see that the food is just as good at this new more casual concept! We would definitely bring our toddlers here and hope to do so for dinner soon!

Yummy!! I went to lunch with a friend today and I'm so glad that I picked Sunday's best. It's in a great location if you're in the central west end and looking for a quick bite. We receded quickly and the service was so polite and they got us everything we needed fast. Everything was hot and fresh! The aïoli on the sandwich was fantastic along with the perfectly cooked bacon and chicken thigh. It was so crisp, but so juicy!! Beef, fries are perfection, and even is the mac & cheese!!! My friend brought her one-year-old and it is definitely kid approved. She even did a little dance while she took bites!! Collard greens were also great. I can't wait to go back and try the apps!

Pros: delicious food, great service, cool decor inside Cons: having to hear my significant other constantly talk about how good their spicy chicken is We had a great visit to Sunday Best. We had a reservation and were seated right when we arrived. We ordered a ton of food to share so we could try lots of their menu. We tried the chicken tenders, the Cobb salad, a smash burger and a whole chicken. I LOVE that you can get just part of your order hot. I am not great with super spicy food, but being able to do one tender spicy and two original is a game changer. Perfect for those spice-sensitive like myself who love spicy flavor but can't handle a ton. You can also do this with the whole chicken - we got a thigh and a wing spicy and the rest original. All of the chicken was amazing. Extremely juicy, really flavorful with the perfect crunchy outside. The burger was buttery with a little hint of spice. I love that the Cobb salad comes with a ton of herbs. It was the perfect freshness to go with all of the fried food we ordered. I would order everything we had again, but honestly after seeing other orders come out I want to try everything on the menu. It all looked amazing. I've got my eyes on the pimento cheese and Smokey catfish dip starters for our next visit! My only complaint (which is minor and would never stop me from coming back) is that soft drinks don't have free refills. We weren't aware of this and got charged for each soda. Not a big deal but I would have liked it to be noted on the menu so we would have known before we got the bill.

I've am longtime fan of this restaurant and would stop in back when it was called Juniper. Juniper moved a couple years ago to a new location in the CWE and now recently rebranded itself as Sunday Best. The space is gorgeous. It is well lit, there is a lot of wood, and it an inviting space. There are a mixture of high tops, low tops, as well as bar seating. There is a nice selection of mixed drinks and it would be worth a trip just to stop in and grab a drink at a bar. However, the real show stopper is the chicken. Growing up we would do Sunday Fried chicken to celebrate birthdays. As a result fried chicken has always had a special place in my pallet. It means family, friends, and being home. I'll eat fried chicken in any form, but without a doubt my go to is chicken and waffles. There is something that just works between the saltiness of the chicken and the sweetness of the waffles. The chicken and waffles at Sunday Best is an Asian inspired dish. There was a dollop of a spicy peanutbutter on top of the waffles. I wasn't sure it would work, but it did. The creaminess paired well with the spicy and the sweetness of the waffle. The chicken tenders were also on point. Large chunks of white meat with just the right amount of breading. My son got a smash burger which was also very good. The fries were also standouts. They hit the sweet spot of being crispy but not too crispy, and being lager than steak fries but not so large as crinkle cut fries. The last thing we tried was a pimento cheese appetizer. It came with fried crackers which were unusual but very tasty. Finally, I'd like to note how outstanding our service as. The waiter was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating to our two kids. Overall we had a fantastic experience and I'd come back.

A fan of Juniper at both locations so I was looking forward to trying Sunday Best. It did not disappoint! Interior of the space seemed pretty much unchanged. We were seated in the main area near the counter from the kitchen. For Starters, I ordered the Pimento Cheese. It is served with pickles and Cajun Spiced crackers. It was really good in that combo. I used to buy the jars when Juniper sold at the Tower Grove Farmers Market, it was as good as I remembered it being. As my main dish I ordered the Sunday Best Club, fried with a side of french fries. It was messy in the way a fried chicken thigh can be but flavor and crunch were really good. I enjoyed the fries but the big deal came the next day when I was eating leftovers and ate the leftover mashed potatoes from my husband's meal. They were the best mashed potatoes I have ever had, there was no gravy left but it was not missed! We went on a Sunday evening and it got busier as the night wore on. Can't wait to go back!

Sunday Best is one of the best fried chicken restaurant in St. Louis. They are open for dinner at 4pm Wednesday through Sunday. They just started Sunday Brunch, too! They just added a few non-chicken things to the menu: fried catfish, Sunday Best burger, and shrimp n grits. My favorite starters: fried brussels sprouts (this is my #1), pimento cheese dip, smokey catfish dip with homemade cheez-itz, and grilled oysters with kimchi butter. You can't go to a fried chicken restaurant without getting fried chicken. I recommend the whole bird (B/W/L/T), or fried chicken sandwich, or the Sunday Best club. Skip the tenders. They have fun sides, too: mac n cheese, collard greens, French fries, tomato & cucumber salad, street corn, sea island red peas. They just rebranded from "Juniper" to "Sunday Best."

Sunday Best is the Juniper that I always wanted for myself - superior food at a more affordable price point, so that I can dine here more frequently! Came here for Sunday supper which is now a "special" which comes with a fresh salad and a side of choice. We got to try their shrimp and grits as their special and their best in city fried chicken. Our meal was delicious! Everything - salad was generously seasoned/peppered, the fried chicken was classic juniper delicious and well cooked, and the shrimp and grits were generous in size and also absolutely delicious. Just very high quality cooking. Service was inviting, friendly, and efficient. Can't wait to come back again very soon. Def the best and my new fav restaurant in CWE.

My brunch date with a girlfriend to Juniper was a great experience. The waitress and the kitchen were all extremely accommodating and made things off the menu for me. I substituted their fried chicken in their eggs benedict and had them serve it over their breakfast potatoes and it was amazing. My friend had the chicken and waffles and a side salad. She chicken had great flavor but not extremely spicy; it was a great mix. I have to say that my favorite part of the experience was their extensive options for mocktails. As someone who rarely drinks alcohol, I get very excited about mocktail options. They have an option to describe the flavors you like and they will craft you a custom drink. I had a sour pear drink that was exceptional and the bartender said how much fun they have crafting mocktails.

After hearing such rave reviews, I tried Juniper for the first time and was not disappointed. Service was great and our waitress was very kind. The cocktail I ordered was pretty strong but refreshing nonetheless and I enjoyed the touch of mint. We ordered the bread basket to start off and it was delicious. The cornbread was nice and sweet and you could taste the bacon grease used to make it. The bread and popover were also yummy and came with a garlic butter for spreading. For an entree I ordered the hot chicken sandwich and it was divine. The chicken was very fresh and well seasoned. I'll be back to order that sandwich again :)

I really want to say that my favorite brunch place is Juniper but the the food quality is kind of different, lack of consistency, each time I go. I came here for a weekend brunch and you do have to make a reservation beforehand as they are pretty booked. - Braised Beef Hash with Salsa Verde - The first time I came here, I remembered how delicious this dish was, very cheesy and flavorful. I decided to try it the next time I came and I was kind of disappointed. The beef was not very tender and was more fatty than meaty and the potatoes didn't soak up a lot of the flavoring. I do have to say that although the dish looked kind of unassuming, the quantity was huge and you definitely would feel very full afterwards. - Fried Chicken & Waffles - A lot of people say that this is the best fried chicken in St. Louis which I kind of agree. The fried part of the chicken is extremely light, but flavorful with all the cajun seasoning. I also appreciate how the chicken also has a lot of flavor even without the breading on the outside. I also appreciate that they put honey on the waffles than just maple syrup. Overall, Juniper is a dang good brunch place not just for the food, but also for the vibes but unfortunately they do have a bit of food consistency issues. I will say that once when I came after they seated us they moved us to another table and as for the apology, they actually gave us a free cinnamon roll which was very nice of them to do.
